East Coast Railway Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit 

Candidates should be 15 to 24 years as on closing date (15 September 2026)

• Minimum Age: 15 years

• Maximum Age: 24 years

Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories as per Railway rules.

• SC/ST: 5 years

• OBC: 3 years

• PwBD: 10 years

• Ex-Servicemen: 10 additional years to the extent of Defence service rendered, plus 3 years, provided a minimum of 6 months of service at a stretch (applicable to the Ex-Serviceman, not to their children)

• Children of deceased/disabled Ex-Servicemen, children of Ex-Servicemen, children of serving Jawans, and children of serving Officers are also considered for engagement under specified categories, with the same age relaxation as per their community

Educational Qualification (21 August 2026)

Applicants must have passed Matriculation (10th Class) under the 10+2 examination with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks from a recognized Board.

Technical Qualification:

Applicants must possess an ITI certificate in the relevant trade, affiliated to NCVT/Academic certificate, as per the Apprentice Act 1961.

1. Applicants whose SSC or ITI results are awaited are not eligible to apply.

2. Applicants who have failed in ITI should not apply. If any such applicant is inadvertently engaged, the apprenticeship will be terminated immediately without any further notice.

3. Engineering graduates and diploma holders are not eligible to apply, as they fall under a separate apprenticeship scheme.

4. For Medical Laboratory Technician (Pathology), the candidate must be 12th pass with physics, Chemistry and Biology with minimum of 50% marks.

5. National Trade Certificate (NTC) approved by NCVT/SCVT for Secretarial Assistant and Stenographer.

6. For Computer Operator & Programming Assistant, must be obtained National Trade Certificate (NTC) approved by NCVT/SCVT.

Application Fee for East Coast Railway Act Apprentice Recruitment 

Application fee (non-refundable) is ₹100/- for General, OBC and EWS (male) candidates. No fee is required to be paid by SC/ST/PwBD/Women applicants.

Selection Process for East Coast Railway Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026

1. Merit list will be prepared solely on the basis of the percentage of marks obtained in Matriculation, of 50% aggregate marks.

2. For the percentage of SSC/Matriculation marks, the total of all subjects in the mark sheet shall be considered. Applicants with a CGPA must convert it to actual marks.

3. If two or more applicants securing the same marks, preference will be given to the older candidate. If the dates of birth are also identical, the candidate who passed the Matriculation examination earlier will be given priority.

4. Applicants are not required to send any hard copies of applications, certificates, or documents to RRC/BBS by post. All relevant documents must be uploaded online only.

5. The trade-wise and community-wise merit list will be prepared, and candidates will be called for DV based on merit.

6. The final selection shall be verification of original documents/testimonials and submission of a Medical Fitness Certificate.

7. Candidates on the standby list will be issued call letters only on receipt of absentees, medically unfit, or rejected candidates from the merit list. Call letters will be issued strictly in order of merit.

Stipend for ECoR Act Apprentice Recruitment 2026

Selected candidates engaged as apprentices will be paid a stipend at the prescribed rate during the training, as per the extant rules and directives issued by the Railway Board. The amount of stipend is not specified. No hostel accommodation will be provided during training; apprentices make their own arrangements

Important Instructions 

1. Railway Administration decisions in eligibility, acceptance or rejection, selection, and allotment of Division/Workshop shall be final.

2. No correspondence will be entertained regarding engagement or selection.

3. Canvassing in any form will result in disqualification of the candidature.

4. If found erroneously engaged, such applicants shall be summarily dismissed without notice.

5. Applicants will be cancelled if they fail to produce the required original documents for verification.

8. The Railway Administration shall not be held responsible for any inadvertent or typographical errors.

9. No Daily Allowance (DA), Conveyance Allowance, or Travelling Allowance (TA) will be paid to applicants called for Document Verification.

10. After selection, requests for change of Trade, Division, or Workshop will not be entertained.

• Mark sheet and Pass Certificate of Matriculation (Class X) or its equivalent.

• Certificate as proof of date of birth, if not mentioned in the Matriculation certificate.

• Consolidated mark sheet for all ITI semesters of the relevant trade, OR Provisional National Trade Certificate indicating marks.

• National Trade Certificate issued by NCVT, or Provisional Trade Certificate issued by NCVT/SCVT.

• Caste Certificate for SC/ST/OBC, if required.

• Income and Asset Certificate for EWS candidates.

• Disability Certificate, in the case of PwBD candidates.

• Discharge Certificate / Serving Certificate, in the case of candidates applying against the Ex-Servicemen quota.

• Certificate for candidates seeking fee exemption.
