Eligibility for SSC JE Recruitment 2026
Nationality/Citizenship:
A candidate must be either:
• A citizen of India, or
• A subject of Nepal, or
• A subject of Bhutan, or
• A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan,Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Educational Qualification for JE
• JE (Civil): Degree in Civil Engineering Or 3 years Diploma in Civil Engineering and 2 years of working experience in Planning/ Execution/ Maintenance of Civil Engineering works
• JE (Electrical, Mechanical): Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Or a 3 year- Diploma in Electrical/ Automobile/Mechanical Engineering from a recognized Institute and 2 year experience in Planning/Execution/ Maintenance of Electrical or Mechanical Engineering works.
• JE (Telecom): Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology in Electrical or Electronics or Electrical Communications or Computer Science or Telecommunications or Information Technology or Instrumentation from a recognized University.
• Scientific Assistant (IMD): Bachelor’s Degree in Science with Physics as one of the subjects OR Computer Science or Computer Applications or Electronics and Communication Engineering or Telecommunication Engineering.
• Candidates opting for JE (Mechanical) are also eligible for JE (Electrical & Mechanical).
• Candidates opting for JE (Telecom) are also eligible for Posts of Scientific Assistant in IMD/ Junior Engineer (Electrical) subject to fulfilling EQ.

Applications Fee for SSC JE Recruitment 2026
• Application fee is payable: ₹ 100/- for Gen/OBC/EWS (male) candidates.
• No fees for Women, SC, ST, PwBD and ExServicemen candidates.

Selection Process for SSC JE Recruitment 2026
Selection process consists of minimum qualifying marks in Paper-I and Paper-II are as follows:
• UR : 30%
• OBC/ EWS : 25%
• All other categories : 20%
• Paper-I (CBE) will be qualifying in nature.
• Candidates will be shortlisted category-wise, to appear in Paper-II.
• Separate merit lists shall be drawn for the post of Junior Engineer in Civil, Electrical & Mechanical, Scientific Assistant in IMD.
• The marks of the Examination will be normalized.
• Final selection and allocation of Post will be made on the basis of the performance of candidates in Paper-II, and the preference of Post exercised.

Candidates who gets appointment will be posted in Group ‘B’ in Level-6 and get monthly salary of Rs. 35400-112400/- of the Pay Matrix of the 7th Central Pay Commission.
